The Geography of Sport is a topic which has become very popular at Key Stage 3, and has also become a case study for GCSE too.
There is an excellent recent addition to the BBC SPORT website: an interactive map which displays the birthplace of the players in the current PREMIER LEAGUE.
You can choose a team, and compare the home of the players in the team from the 1989-90 season and the 2009-10 season. This allows a very useful comparison of change over time, and
helps demonstrate the increasingly global nature of the sport.
Even back in 1989 there were still players that were born overseas, but obviously not as many.
It's worth investigating differences between the different clubs.
