Following interest
from several schools/individuals, I established a Primary Humanities Network
for local teaching professionals back in April 2018. This has grown enormously over the past year
or so, which has made all the time and effort involved hugely worthwhile. It is intended to meet one afternoon each
term (please feel free to bring your lunch with you if necessary). Each meeting will aim to focus on a
particular aspect of geography and/or history, determined very much by the
needs/desires of the group.
Our
third session of 2019-2020 will take the theme of ‘Ofsted’s new Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and the 3Is – Part 3’. In the third of a proposed
series of sessions, we will think about ‘implementation’ once again, but
this time the meeting will be less jam-packed and fast-paced to enable participants
to reflect on their whole school curriculum offering, seek advice about the
delivery of specific units and share best practice with others present.
Through
both my suggestions and the shared experiences of others, it is hoped that you
will return to school with further ideas
to support your continued whole school curriculum planning and development.
The aim is to meet from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm on Thursday 16th January 2020 at
the Gloucestershire Heritage Hub (former
Gloucestershire Archives), Clarence Row, Alvin Street, Gloucester, GL1 3DW
(https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/heritage-hub/find-out-where-we-are/). Parking is available on site (at cost of £3.00,
payable by cash or card at the front desk). The cost per head is £40.00, with refreshments provided upon
arrival and throughout the afternoon.
Please bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop/tablet and USB stick with you, along with a copy of your annual whole school curriculum plan and current scheme of work/topic map.
To reserve a place, please contact Emma Espley, either by telephone or
e-mail (Tel: 07944 482462 or emma.espley@gmail.com). Please apply no later than Thursday 9th January 2020.
I look forward to seeing some familiar
faces, as well as a few new ones too.
