Scottish Association of Geography Teachers' Conference 2018 details

On the SAGT Facebook page, you can see details of the sessions at this year's conference, and the booking form is there as well.

The date for the SAGT Conference this year is Saturday 27th October 2018 and it will be hosted again by Dollar Academy in Clackmannanshire.

The theme of the conference is: 'Tomorrow's World: the future of our planet'

Scroll down to #14 to see details of my contribution to the event... Good to see that the ESRI gang will be there as well.
There are discounts for members who book before the end of September.

Hope to see some of you there... It's been a couple of years since I've attended, due to other commitments...

Nan Shepherd

Lovely to see the story that went into creating the newly redesigned Scottish banknotes featuring Nan Shepherd. She was someone who has inspired a great many writers with her tales of the Cairngorms.
A few years ago, I used Nan's book, and Robert MacFarlane's description of walking in her footsteps in 'The Old Ways' as the basis for a workshop at the Scottish Association of Geography Teacher's conference.

SAGT Conference 2016

I've been attending the SAGT conference regularly since 2005, other than when in Iceland last year and in Toulouse this coming October half term.

It's an excellent one day gathering, which is taking place in Lanarkshire this year, on the 29th of October.
A good mix of classroom teachers, subject experts and entertaining keynotes.

SAGT / RSGS Questionnaire on Scottish Geography

Via the SAGT Facebook page....

SAGT/ RSGS are developing a joint initiative to raise the profile of Geography and to address some of the concerns we currently have. In order to do this we need to gather evidence of what is currently happening in Geography in our schools and universities. Erica Caldwell (SAGT/ RSGS Liaison) has already obtained views of some SAGT members as a result of speaking to people at conference and their subsequent emails. As a next step SAGT is aiming to gather specific details relating to schools from a wider range of members.

Head to the Survey Monkey page if you have a relevant opinion and would like to contribute to the questionnaire.
