Updated - 7th November
I'm going to be heading down to Somerset for the Somerset Geography Conference. I'm doing a session on my KS3 Toolkit book on landscapes (with updates) and ideas about teaching about landscapes. This will include mentions of the White Cliffs of Dover, Ash dieback, Brave and other Pixar films, burger boxes, Google Earth and other things....
The conference has been developed with a lot of work from Noel Jenkins, who has put together a great line-up for the conference. Sadly, like the SAGT conference at the weekend (see separate blog post), Iain Stewart was unable to attend as he had been allowed permission to film in Turkmenistan, which apparently is rare, but had to be this week.
Don't forget that this award-winning Toolkit book has a blog to support it - as with many of my books, such as the Badger GCSE book which has its own blog HERE.
If you can't make that event, you now have the option to join me for a virtual Teachshare version of the same event, where I'll run through the event.
It's going to take place on the 6th of November: the day after the Somerset conference, and will be an online event starting at 6pm.
I'll also mention my new children's book 'The Ice Man' - order now for Christmas
UPDATE
The recording is now available to access. Viewing the recording via the link will also allow you to download the presentation that I used....

Somerset Geography Conference 2012
In a month's time I'm going to be heading down to the Somerset Geography Conference.
As it happens I'm going to be taking the Geography Collective Spaceship as my mode of transport as Dan Raven Ellison and I are involved in the afternoon session. I shall also be talking about teaching about landscapes. This is based on my KS3 Toolkit book, which is still available to purchase from the GA shop of course.
Noel Jenkins has put together a cracking line-up for the event.
Head to the Somerset Geography Posterous page for more details.
Hope to see some of you there...

Somerset Geography Conference
Noel Jenkins was involved in the organisation of a conference for geography teachers in Somerset recently, and the resources from the event have now very kindly been shared.
If you head over to the SOMERSET GEOGRAPHERS posterous blog, you will find details of the sessions that Noel and others produced for the delegates. Some fabulous ideas there...

Somerset
Spent the day in Somerset today. An excellent hotel in Ilminster, followed by a short trip to Dillington House for the Somerset Heads of Geography event. Thanks to Sam Woodhouse for inviting me to keynote the event and present a workshop.
Thanks particularly to the delegates who attended this year.
My presentations will be available on the Somerset VLE I understand, after the event, but get in touch if there's anything else you need from me...
Had the first opportunity to see Noel Jenkins in action too, talking about some of his projects in a session called "Place, Space and Interface". Noel showed the work of some 6 year old bloggers, who had been working with Dan Lea: an AST working in Ilford.
Also saw the QR Code reader in action.
A very nice lunch too...
One of the things I shared was Tony Cassidy's Facebook idea, and the work of Liz Smith. This seemed to go down better than most of my stuff...
