Caves and tourism

One of the major news stories of June 2018 was the rescue of the Thai football team from a complex of flooded caves.
What has happened since then?
Tham Luang cave is the name of the cave system where the football team were trapped.
The cave area is now a major tourist attraction as people head to see the caves where the drama happened.

A Quartz piece too.

This could be argued to be an example of 'disaster' or 'dark tourism', as one of the cave divers died while involved in the rescue.

Tourists or Migrants ?

Barcelona seems to have decided that it would rather have migrants than tourists, according to this article.
There have been protests about the impact of Air BnB which I have blogged previously, and protests on some of the beaches.

My daughter has just returned from the city, and didn't mention any particular issues. She was made to feel very welcome, but perhaps it was the areas that she found herself in weren't as badly affected as others?
