Salzburg GI Forum - July 2011

Had a meeting with my colleague John Lyon last week to discuss the input that we are going to have into the GI Forum as part of the DIGITAL EARTH project that the GA are involved with as one of the partner organisations: a 3 year EU funded project looking at "Geomedia".


GI FORUM which is taking place in Salzburg in the first week of July 2011 (not long to go now...) is part of the project.


Here's the detail on the purpose of the conference:


The digital-earth.eu project examines the use of geographic media in schools and teacher education. Geo-media is the visualisation of information from different media sources and is concerned with digital content and its processing based on place, position and location. Many geographic media are widely used for navigation and routing purposes. Cartographic communication has never been so easy to implement, therefore 21^st century school education needs to include geo-media into daily work. Innovative approaches to teaching and learning are needed to study environments from local to global scale


The event will have a number of keynote speakers, notably Joseph Kerski from ESRI.
