Each year, the GA Leeds Branch runs a popular one day workshop.
This year's workshop is taking place in May. I received this information this week from Andy Newing.
"The Leeds Branch of the Geographical Association are delighted to invite you to our one-day teachers' workshop 'Cutting Edge Geography' on Saturday 19th May 2012. Following the success of last year's event, we are really pleased that Netherside Hall School (nr. Skipton) have very kindly agreed to host this event once again.
The venue provides an excellent setting and lays on exceptional catering. A number of presenters have agreed to give up their time in order to make the event a stimulating, rewarding and interesting day. Speakers from academia, teacher training providers, field study centres and industry have all been confirmed, with topics including sustainable urban regeneration, fieldwork, flood risk management and transport geography on the agenda.
This year there will be no parallel sessions - therefore all participants will be able to benefit from the full range of speakers. An optional educational caving trip, led by experienced instructors is also available as a free add-on immediately after this event.
The workshop promises to be an enjoyable day and provides a chance for teachers of secondary and 'A' Level Geography to network with colleagues and gain new ideas in a friendly environment.
We have to ask for a small contribution of £10 per person (pay on the day - cash only please) to cover the catering and venue costs."

For £10 (plus your travel expenses) this has to be great value.
And being on a Saturday, you can certainly make a good claim to the person responsible for CPD at your school that this is money well spent that they should reimburse you for....
There is also a chance to go CAVING after the event !!

There will also be a series of short presentations including ‘What can the GA do for you?’ and
Leeds University Outreach plus a short introduction to the limestone geology of the Yorkshire
Dales, which will be particularly useful to those that are caving.
There is also a chance to go CAVING after the event !!
