I've found it quite useful for saving images in categories so that I can share them online, and find them again, and also share discoveries...
It's also interesting when random people you've never met before 'follow' your boards.
Heidi Wallace's boards have some very useful links to Geography-related things, such as Political Geography. I 'repinned' a few things from her boards onto mine.
Follow a link from one of those images, and it took me to other boards, and so on...
It's a bit like the good old days before Google when you 'surfed' from one interesting find to another...
