QGIS course at the RGS

There's a useful course in November at the RGS for those interested in free GIS. QGIS is something that I installed recently, and have started to explore.

Introduction to GIS using Quantum GIS
Introduction to GIS using Quantum GIS is a 3-hour short course for those who are unfamiliar with GIS concepts. Delegates attending this course will gain an understanding of geographic data types and how to create, map, edit and display geographic information in Quantum GIS (QGIS) – a powerful free and open-source GIS package.
Monday 5 November 2012, 2pm—5pm RGS-IBG, London In association with Ordnance Survey Cost: £30 Members, £30 non Members

I am currently preparing some teaching materials for the MapStream service operated by EDINA. This provides a set of streamed OS maps which can then be used within existing GIS clients such as QGIS and ArcGIS.
Unfortunately, I am already booked on another event  that day otherwise I'd probably have gone along to update my own skills with this software.
