Guerrilla Geography Day - November 7th

The latest Guerrilla Geography Day is on the 7th of November
I'll be taking part with some of my groups...

The theme this time round is ...
PAST AND FUTURE

I'm going to explore the settlement around the classroom where I teach in the Senior School and look for signs of the past and the future... We'll explore how places have looked in the past and how they may look in the future
View the website for more ideas on taking part, which could involve you:

  • showing people what places used to look like in the past
  • transforming places to show what planned redevelopments will mean
  • creating imaginary futures for places
Here’s a list of actions that you could take:
1. Place images of the past in the places the images were taken...
2. Create artworks showing the past, present and possible future of that place and exhibit them somehow (see http://www.postcardsfromthefuture.co.uk/ for some inspiration for this)
3. Draw field sketches from the future of a site from one of your field trips or a place near your school so that the whole class can compare their sketches and discuss what they have imagined
4. Create a temporal map of your local area or school route as it seems to travel through time
5. Place dates on buildings shown when they were built and when they look like they were built ?
Find the most modern and the oldest building in the local town centre/main street

Don’t forget to share your actions by posting blogs here and sharing photos on twitter with the hashtag #GuerrillaGeographyDay.
