I've been over that top part of the M62 numerous times in different circumstances. One of the most memorable was one winter, when heading back over the tops from Liverpool to Sheffield in a friend's battered old VW Beetle. We noticed that the road was very quiet, as it was very snowy, but it was only when a Police Range Rover pulled us over and asked us why we were driving on the road as it had been closed that we realised why...
