The Immeasurable World

Just finished reading this book, which is an absolute classic, and explores some of the world's deserts through a number of stories.

There are stories of the Aral Sea's decline, told in a different way; of the migrants trying to cross the Sonoran Desert; of the Burning Man festival and its impact on the desert; of the early explorers in the Taklamakan; of the Empty Quarter of Oman; and the changing histories of the Great Victorian Desert in Australia.

Beautiful descriptions, and further reminders that the deserts are anything but dead: Andrew Goudie would definitely approve...

One for drylands too...
