A WEF video makes the connection between the two... I think there are a few issues with the large scale adoption of EVs if the infrastructure is not there. At the moment you can generally find a charging point free at those places where they have been installed.
A queue for charging would be a very slow moving one compared with refuelling without improvements in the rate of charging. Having said that, I'd be happy to swap over.
