It's some time now since I first saw Game of Thrones. I didn't watch it from the beginning, as it was shown on Sky, so picked up the Season 1-4 Box set and inhaled them all over the summer of 2015. Since then, the story has developed and recently the last episode was shown.
It's also brought a great deal of investment to the film industry in Ireland, Iceland, Croatia and other locations where the filming was done, and will continue to do so as fans continue to want to visit the locations of filming.
It divided opinion, but had a satisfying feel to me.
SPOILER ALERT...
There was a nice quote from Arya: the most developed character in the series perhaps other than Tyrion
She also reveals herself to be an explorer and cartographer.... she decides at the end of the final episode:
"What's west of Westeros?" she asks.
"I don't know..."
"No-one knows - it's where all the maps stop - that's where I'm going"....
