More on the end of elsewhere

Humans are everywhere and they’re ruining everything. Nowhere is new. Nowhere is empty. No place is unspoilt.

A book I keep returning to is the 'End of Elsewhere' by Taras Grescoe. It describes his attempt to find somewhere 'different' and finding that with most of the types of holidays that he took, and the places that he visited, there was a homogenous character to them.
It also has a connection with E.M. Forster's 'The Machine Stops'.

It mentions Chernobyl. The recent HBO has meant a huge increase in interest in visiting the locations, and the area. I'm looking into going some time next year.

This is an area I am going to be developing as my GA Presidential year theme, linking to wider definitions of exploration.

This video is interesting too...
