GAIA at the Apex

Earlier this year, we were supposed to be hosting a Climate Change conference in Ely Cathedral which was due to involve Chris Packham. Our students were going to be involved, as part of a connection we had made with a local haulier committed to going zero carbon. A lot has changed since then...

Hanging in the cathedral while the conference took place was going to be Luke Jerram's GAIA: a large inflatable earth, onto which was projected images of the earth as it rotated. The Cathedral had to close, and the artwork didn't appear as planned....

The artwork is currently installed in the Apex, a lovely concert venue in Bury St. Edmunds. I popped over there yesterday to take a look, and also see an exhibition of fashion and photography from students at King's Ely.
