A very useful GeogPod, which I listened to today.
The podcast refers to a new GA Top Spec publication which is called 'Climate Crisis', and will be coming out in 2022.
'Climate Crisis' - the book focuses on the narrative of why we are now talking about climate crisis rather than climate change.
It explores the work that Kate and Tim did to work on the book, and understanding that there is a conversation that needs to run across the curriculum e.g. in Factfulness, Hans Rosling talks about the impact that the washing machine etc would have on climate.
The book is written for an 'A' level student audience and also teachers, and the GCSE specifications also need to be updated to reflect this.
Kate talks through the process of writing the book, and adding something to the climate 'conversation' to reduce the anxiety over the overwhelming amount of information. Kate references the work of Kit Rackley and Paul Turner and the importance of making geography a curriculum issue.
The book finishes with looking at solutions, so these require young people to be taught specific skills e.g. coding and scientists, and engineers.
