Nuts, whole hazelnuts

I have an activity which explores the global 'spread' of Nutella using the website.

Nutella is made by the company Ferrero. You will find it inside their Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

A good proportion of all the hazelnuts produced in Italy and other countries are used to make the hazelnut and chocolate spread which is very populat globally, especially spread on bread by the French for breakfast, for example.

Supply chains are important in any product. Nutella relies on a number of ingredients which have to be produced to particular specifications and also in large quantities to cope with the scale of production.

These are outlined on the Nutella website.

There is also a useful Visual Capitalist graphic exploring this issue, and the various ingredients that go into this product.
