GAConf22 - The Rex Walford Lecture - Educating tomorrow’s geographers for a changing and challenging world - #126 of many
The latest in a series of posts showcasing sessions which are included in the programme for the GA Conference in April 2022.
The Rex Walford Lecture was introduced to the GA Conference programme in 2012 following the very sad and untimely passing of Rex Walford in January 2011.
You can read more about Rex's remarkable life and career in his entry on my GA Presidents blog project (along with a biography of every GA President to date).

This year's Rex Walford lecture will be given by Dr. Nicola Walshe.
Nicola has a connection with Homerton College, having been involved with the PGCE course there for a while between Liz Taylor and Alison Dunphy.
Nicola recently started work as Head of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment, University College London, Institute of Education
She will talk about:
Educating tomorrow’s geographers for a changing and challenging world
In a world facing what have been described as unprecedented challenges, including the climate emergency and increasing global inequalities, children and young people are playing a progressively more central role in demanding action from those in power. This lecture will explore the role of geography and geography teachers in responding to this call, asking what curriculum for the emerging generation of Anthropoceneans?
I am loooking forward to attending this session as part of the final day of the conference, and will have the pleasure of Chairing this session as well.
