GA Trustee Opportunity

The GA is looking to elect a new trustee to serve on the Governing Body.

The GA President joins the Governing Body for the duration of their Presidential 'journey'.

The Geographical Association (GA) is asking for nominations for an elected Trustee to join our Governing Body from September 2022. A high-quality geography education is essential for future generations, as geography has a critical role in solving many of the global challenges we face.

The Governing Body meets three times a year in a range of locations around the country, comprises 14 Trustees and has responsibility for providing strategic direction and sound governance for the Association.

We would like to encourage members of the GA to contribute to the GA’s charitable mission of furthering geographical knowledge and understanding through education through standing for election to one of these positions.

This opportunity is for an elected Trustee post with an initial three-year term. The closing date for receipt of nominations, either by post or email, is midday on Monday 2 May 2022.

If there is more than one nomination, a ballot of GA members will be arranged with voting taking place via the GA website in May. If an election is required the ballot details will be given on the website and in the GA newsletters.

As well as expertise in geography, we are looking for a trustee who ideally also has skills and experience in one or more of the following:

• Media/PR
• Legal
• Finance
• Diversity and inclusion

Previous board experience is not essential for the role as we will mentor new trustees.
