CB1 marks the arrival point for many into the city of Cambridge. It is the area immediately around the railway station, which is a short walk away from the centre of the city.
It has been comprehensively redeveloped over the years that I have been visiting the city - well over 30 when I first started visiting quite regularly and also led fieldwork there for some years when working in King's Lynn as part of a transect across the city. It has changed substantially since then.
