Geographies of Street Food

This is an excellent read and/or listen on the hard work of Manhattan's street-food vendors on the Economist's website.

The van mentioned in this piece ends up in Midtown off 48th Street.

I remember being in this area when I visited New York in 2019.

The article describes the role that street vendors play in capturing the demographics of a city, by changing their offering to cope with the changes in the way that people live and work.

These are halal carts as well, which have their own cultural significance as well as their own individual touches. They are a relatively recent phenomenon as a result of changing patterns of immigration.
