SAGT is going to take place at the Inverness Royal Academy in October 2022.
I'm going to be attending and presenting once again. My first year at the event was back in 2005.
The conference theme this year is STORIES in Geography.
I've been working on a theme and details of a seminar which is based on previous and present work.
This is an area I've been researching and blogging about for a while as it also connects with the work I completed for my Presidential year.
The Faraway Nearby is mentioned in this piece on Rebecca Solnit, from which the title for my proposed session will be drawn. This book explores the power of storytelling and includes this quote in the opening essay: Apricots.
I'll be mentioning other story tellers of note and the reasons they provide for the power of stories, and why they matter. I'll cover storytelling in different genres and formats and hopefully have a discussion about the stories that colleagues have used in their own teaching...
Then I'll share some of the stories I use in my classroom, or to guide my curriculum planning.
If you've never been to the SAGT Conference before it's a lovely one-day event. It's not exactly on the doorstep for those outside Scotland, but you could always make a long weekend out of it.
