Environment under threat

There were very many aspects of the recent mini-budget by Kwasi Kwarteng that were terrible news... and not just for his own continued employment in post.

It was a budget to help the super rich and showed contempt for those who need the most help with the austerity crisis.

There are SO MANY areas where decisions are reactive rather than in any way strategic and with the best interests of people, the environment, our food system and most aspects of daily life...

The RSPB is not known for being 'political' but even they came out with a statement about the proposals for removing planning protections that were included in the statement.

I've been a member of the RSPB for around 40 years and feel that it is important to keep supporting an organisation that purchases and protects habitats which are important to me. I am a member of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust for the same reason. I can afford to support both of these organisations, which is a privilege.

The National Trust joined them shortly after.
