Hemsby Beach closed

This Sky News report which I heard over the weekend is linked with a beach in Norfolk which I visited myself about a month ago.

The dunes here have been eroded before, which has placed the small number of houses in the dunes to be threatened with collapse and evacuation. Some have been abandoned and dismantled already, others have been moved back, and others have home-made sea defence attempts to slow the rage of erosion.

There are many seals to be found here usually, especially during the early months of the year.

The beach is currently closed and the local lifeboat is unable to launch as a large drop has been created by sand being removed.

More in this Guardian report.

There are various stories in the newspapers of people who are concerned about their homes. One wonders when they bought the property.
