GA Conference 2023 #7: First day events

Another post previewing the GA Conference 2023, which starts next Thursday.

There will be a number of events on the first day where delegates can get involved. This is part of the continuing development of the conference's format to reflect changing expectations and the extra dynamic of a hybrid element for those who want it.

There are some events on the first day which I shall be attending:

12.00-12.30: Welcome from GA President Alastair Owens in the Pennine Lecture Theatre.

12.30-1.30: Geography book club and opening of the book swap - Hallam View

There are various field trip options available at this time, including urban fieldwork, street art tours and a look at woodlands.

2.00 - 3.00: Roundtable on the GA's Framework for the school Geography curriculum

3.30 - 4.30: GA Branches Meet and Greet - Heartspace Atrium
3.30 - 4.30: A live recording of a GeogPod episode with John Lyon interviewing Richard Philips from the University of Sheffield - Pennine Lecture Theatre.

4.30 - 5.00: Meet the Trustees - Heartspace Atrium
I will be a Trustee until the end of August, when my 4 year term through the Presidential cycle comes to an end.

6.00 - 6.50: Public Lecture - Professor Jenny Pickerill will talk about Hopeful Environmentalisms

Then head over to the Kelham Island Museum for the wine reception and conference dinner.

As always, you can follow along on the conference hashtag, which is #GAConf23.
