Trevor Rainbolt

You may not have heard the name Trevor Rainbolt before, but he has a very specific geographical skill which will be of interest to pupils, many of whom are big fans of GeoGuessr.

He appears to have developed a remarkable range of techniques for identifying some specific geographical characteristics of the landscape and its built environment which helps him identify the likely country.

He is a professional YouTuber and gamer.

We have a departmental account for GeoGeussr. It always goes down well with students.

This Financial Times article linked to above talks about his particular skill, and how he has turned it into a job and a chance to travel the world for real.

He describes some of the very specific clues that he uses, including the design of telegraph poles and the colour of license plates. When I'm playing I tend to use particular clues.

There is more to come on this as I'm putting together some top tips for players.
