A new acronym for you to explore, if you haven't already in units on inequality.
UHNWI
We are talking here about Ultra High Net Worth Individuals: people who have a disproportionate amount of wealth and have a lifestyle which involves super yachts or private jets and a high impact on the planet.
They have a massive impact through the lifestyle they have, and also through the impact they have on others. A lot of wealth is generally gained from creating environmental impacts of a negative kind. Some would argue they are philanthropists, some might talk about trickle down, but when so much wealth is in the hands of one person that seems a little unfair and ethically indefensible.
Expect to see this appearing in exam specifications before too long.
