It was a pleasure to chat to Petr Knecht: from the University of Ostrava.
He introduced himself to me by showing me the cover of 'Why Study Geography?' on his phone and asking me whether that was me who'd written the book. He then showed me articles on Google Scholar where my book was referenced in his work and that of others. It was lovely to see that my work had reached Czechia / Czech Republic and beyond.
I'd previously posted about an image of a EuroGeo conference presentation which referenced my book that Petr had presented but it was good to meet in person.
One of the papers is here:
In recent years, books have been regularly published that try to answer what the essence of geography is, what geography is useful for (Murphy 2018, Crane 2020), or why it is beneficial to study geography at high school or university (Parkinson 2020; Tate, Hopkins 2020).
