A pilgrimage to Perec

While in Paris, I of course had to make my way to Saint Sulpice. It was in this square outside several cafes, which I visited, that the writer Georges Perec sat to try to "exhaust a place in Paris" by observing all the small things that happened while he was there over the course of three days.

I visited the cafe where there is a plaque which references his famous book written with no use of the letter 'e' and sat on the benches where he sat.

I referenced Perec in my GA Presidential lecture and have blogged about him numerous times before.
