Worldly Wednesday #28: New specs

Another term-time Wednesday means it's time for another Worldly Wednesday.

This time of year is when we usually receive notice of the elections for RGS-IBG Council and details of the RGS-IBG Award winners.
I've known about the latter for some time.
They are not out yet.

This Wednesday was marked by the receipt of new specs... by which I mean spectacles rather than specifications... the usual splashing of over £400 for glasses which I'll wear for the next couple of years. I've worn glasses for over 55 years. I have no intention of having contact lenses or corrective surgery.

After picking up my specs it was a busy day of dealing with various home events: sorting the electrics of a neighbour, my house was being repainted - perfect painting weather - and we had the road dug up for the electric works that have been ongoing for a week.

Alongside that I started work on a new writing project by transferring text I'd already written into some master documents.
My first deadline is in June, so there's time to get stuck in yet.

And one of my Substack newsletters passed 1000 reads, which is excellent news.
