Want to be in the top 10% - too bad...

A Guardian article explores the earning power of the average person in the UK.

If you saved every penny you earned from a lifetime for over 50 years of work, you would just about scrape into the richest 10%.  Except you'd probably need to spend some of that... so you wouldn't....

A lot of wealth creation in recent decades has been "passive" and driven by property ownership.

Great wealth is also being  created rather than being inherited or "generational" wealth, although we are due to see a great transition of wealth in the next few decades from the 'boomers' to their children (or grandchildren).

We are seeing alternative routes to high net-worth including cryptocurrency, 'influencers' and cultural capital, The 'cult of celebrity' is still a powerful money-earner.

The huge variations in how and how much is earned are driving record wealth inequality...
