BlueSky #1000

Once it became clear that Twitter was becoming a bin-fire, when it changed its ownership, its name, got rid of moderators and reinstated the accounts of racists and the rest, I cancelled my account which had over 8000 carefully curated followers (my account was private for years and only visible to those I had checked had an interest in Geography).

I've just posted my 1000th 'update' / 'post' on BlueSky.

The place I chose to move to....

In the time I've been there I've picked up around 500 followers.

Engagement is still quite slow compared to the early days of Twitter but it's a useful option for those immediate posts - often as a way to file away a news story I will perhaps come back to later when I have more time.

Thanks to those who follow me there, and feel free to add yourselves to that number if you use BlueSky.

One account that I recommend you take a look at is from Patrick Marques.

This is a French account, which tends to post a lot of updates in a block, and will often have French sources, but plenty from other sources too.

What's your favourite BlueSky account to follow?
