Food diversity (or lack of)

I've spent the last few months or so writing quite a bit about geographies of food.

Only nine crops (sugar cane, maize, rice, wheat, potatoes, soybeans, oil-palm fruit, sugar beet and cassava) account for over 66 percent of all crop production by weight.
