Thoughtful Thursdays #15: Heading for Gent

Welcome to the 15th of my Thoughtful Thursdays - and the first of the new year.

What was I thinking about today? Mostly making my next connection...

My day was spent travelling to a meeting in Ghent, and having a few hours to explore the city after dark as well as have a meal.

This was a chance to engage with people I've worked with for 15 years in some cases. There is a connection here through ERASMUS.

I used Eurostar, which I like to use when possible. The connection through to Brussels was smooth, with a busy train as far as Lille and then a local train to Ghent and tram into the city centre. Always good to be in a city with an integrated public transport network (although they seemed to be digging quite a bit of it up...)

A few images from the first night's wanderings in the city. Images by Alan Parkinson - shared on Flickr under CC license.

The meeting was linked to the EMO-GI project. I've been blogging that a little already - use the search function to find the posts. Once we have a website I'll add it here too....

Ended the day with a superb meal and beer in the Bridge Brasserie close to St. Basil's Cathedral.
