Welcome to the 16th of my Thoughtful Thursdays
What was I thinking about today?
After last week's Eurostar and Belgium excitement it was a day at home mostly thinking about support for teachers in various forms. It rained, which is fine as I was indoors.
I had a Zoom call first thing with someone whose job is to communicate with people, and who has seen that job change significantly in the time that she has been doing it. We spent a little while planning how we might work together to support the work of the RGS and its Choose Geography campaign.
I'll share more of this work once it has developed into something that is worth sharing.
Later in the day, I had a planning call for an event I'm part of next week.
Here are the details:
Topics also include tips on balancing fieldwork with classroom learning, integrating Diversity, Equity, Justice and Inclusion (DEJI) into teaching and addressing how to encourage ‘Geography of Hope’ with the current challenges of climate change and sustainability.
The panellists will draw on their co-authoring and advisory experience on the new Collins Discover Geography resources, to provide practical insights and tools that educators can adapt to their own classrooms. Designed for secondary geography teachers and coordinators alike.
Sign up links are here for the 10am UTC and the 4pm UTC sessions.
I hope to perhaps see some international colleagues there.
There was some writing of resources for the 'Discover Geography' textbook and edits of supporting materials, which are taking shape nicely to support teachers in their use of the book.
