Mam Tor

Mam Tor, also known as the"shivering mountain" overlooks the Peak District town of Castleton - visited by many school groups over the decades.

In the mid 2000s, I included it in a book I wrote: one of the GA's KS3 Toolkits, called 'Look at it this Way'. The book even has its own blog.

I spent New Years Eve 1989 on Mam Tor - saying goodbye to a decade which saw me leave school, pass my degree, train as a teacher and start work.

I've been up there many a time in all sorts of weather, from heat to snow to wind so strong I could hardly stand...

Now the TikTokers have discovered it it seems.

This BBC article paints a picture of chaos, although I would imagine there are still times when you can have it to yourself.
