Jerseys - growing well

I've sponsored a row of Jersey Royal potatoes (as you do...), and get regular updates on how they are doing. This is a new scheme, which raises money for children's charities on the island - and I get a nice delivery of my favourite food - hopefully ahead of their arrival into supermarkets.

Last week I got an update photo to show how they are doing... apparently they are doing well in the cĂ´tils where they are planted: steeply sloping fields.

Jersey’s climate is part of their story and adds to the special taste they develop. The potatoes are also part of Jersey's food culture in return.

Jersey's soil is light and well-drained, with many farmers still using seaweed harvesting from Jersey beaches as a natural fertiliser (which is known locally as vraic).

I'll keep you posted....
