Oman 3165 - new resources from the RGS

The RGS has released some new resources based on the Oman 3165 expedition

Throughout history, people have used the coastline as a point in which their place connects to others. Oman has a rich history of using their coastline for this purpose.

This module has been designed to help Key Stage 3 (11-14) pupils understand the types of industry that can be found along the Omani coastline, develop map skills, understand the role shipping and its sustainable future for Oman.

Offering a selection of engaging lessons that develop geographical skills, deepen understanding of sustainability, this module sets to gain understanding of the country’s industry along the coastline.

Within this module, you will find the following topics:
  • Coastal industry
  • Shipping
  • Futures
This module draws inspiration from a 70-day, carbon-neutral expedition along the Omani coast in a 5-metre boat powered by Mark Evans. Through these lessons, pupils will examine the coastal landscapes observed on the journey and explore how the coastline continues to shape the people who live beside it.
