A reasonable night's sleep despite the heat. I had been lucky with my room allocation as it was on the end of a floor next to a kitchen which would normally have been busy with students cooking meals... took me back to my own year in Halls of Residence: the final year of my degree up at Ashenhurst in Huddersfield. The location of the halls, in Prince's Gardens was very convenient.

Over to Imperial College's refectory for breakfast. Impressed by this too. Good chat with a colleague from Wymondham who was involved in Norfolk geography matters back in the day when I started to teach there. Professor Iain Stewart arrived for breakfast too, and I caught up with him - we've met a few times over the years - most memorably when he gave me my medal which I never talk about...
I started with a few moments of calm in Hyde Park and then to the RGS for the morning. Charlene Rose kicked off the morning with a session on everyday food encounters and her research in this area.
I then had to head off and missed the final part of the event... I hope it becomes an annual event.
One final post to come when I look back at my notes...
