The chapter compares two upland areas: the Lake District and the Himalayas.
It focusses on both physical and human processes which change landscapes, including time. The focus is on geomorphology - some processes are slow, and some are very rapid. Some have happened in the Lake District in the past, and some are still happening in the Himalayas.
We saw earlier this week, sadly, how rapidly the landscape in the area of the Himalayas can change.
There are now plenty of additional elements to consider when using this section of the book. A reminder that any textbook is a moment in time, and additional context and support is always needed when placing it on the desk, or using as an activity outside the classroom. The previous post also reminds us of the need for sensitivity if mentioning the events of the last few days.
Here's a taster of that chapter, which is intended to be a half-term unit (roughly) and connects with previous sections on climate change.
