Enquiry and challenge based learning
should play an important part in the
geographical curriculum, where pupils
are driven into corners where they
have to be hard on the information
that they have collated, or that they
are given to work with. “What does it
actually mean?” “What does this mean
that we have to investigate next?” “If
this is the case then what should be
done here?” are memes of geographical
enquiry. Sometimes this leads to
important conclusions and sometimes
it sends pupils back to the drawing
board, but life’s like that.
