GA Conference 2015 - 7 - Thursday 9th April

Thursday involved getting to the conference, and sitting on a slow train to Manchester...
Arrived and checked into my hotel, which was at least rather nice.
Over to the conference venue, where the awards were taking place, and the networking started, and didn't really stop for the next 48 hours...
Some interesting awards handed out: GA Manchester branch, who I spoke to back in 2008, got an award, as did Juanita Shepherd, who I worked with in Sheffield, and Anne Dolan.
Schools went up to get their Quality Mark awards, including some familiar faces. A resource that I co-wrote for the RGS-IBG for their Rediscovering London's Geography project got a GA Silver Award, which was nice, so hung around for the presentations.

After that was the wine reception, and talked to a few folks over a glass of wine. A few possible projects and ideas emerging, and speaking to some people I hadn't seen since the last conference.
Out into Manchester next for a pizza and a few drinks.
This was very much the social 'day' with the real business starting tomorrow...
Coming soon: Friday of conference...
