As I was born in the early 60s (I know I don't look I could have been), there were limited TV options as a child, and one of them was Blue Peter or Magpie. I was probably more of a Blue Peter person overall and enjoyed the films of John Noakes.
He took a lot of risks with his films, but also encouraged children to do the same, and get outside. I remember the elephant of course, and chasing after the kangaroo, and climbing Nelson's Column without much in the way of safety equipment.
They'll still be playing this one in 100 years time too...
