Park Hill Flats have sat on Park Hill, overlooking the city of Sheffield since before I was born. The complex was opened in 1961. It was threatened with demolition after suffering some problems as time passed, and problem tenants were housed there. The original plans for communities in the sky didn't come to fruition.It was listed by English Heritage in 1998 which guaranteed its survival. I've blogged about the complex previously.

The story of Park Hill Flats and the plans for "streets in the sky" is one that could well form part of the plans for the Sheffield GA Conference in 2020.
