It's clear there needs to be an enquiry into the handling of the 'A' level results today, and some consideration to adopting the Scottish 'solution' following so many complaints - I have read so many tweets and other comments being made from teachers, parents and students today - a year group that has already had so much to cope with has been let down, and teachers' professionalism has been called into question by the Secretary of State and Ofqual.
Michael Gove's decision to prevent the data that 'AS' grades would have provided to help accuracy has proved yet again to be a terrible one, and many have had their lives changed through no fault of their own... indeed there was very little they could do from just over 50% of the way through their course to alter the final grade that was awarded.
People predicted a C were even apparently graded as U. How can you fail an exam you haven't even sat?
Variations have been seen between geographical areas, and different types of institutions - what happened to standardisation?
Geoff Barton said it better than I could.
It will appear here.
My son was in the Y13 cohort too, for added 'interest'....
Read Marina Hyde in the Guardian on this.
And I haven't forgotten the Fieldwork decision by OFQUAL for next year's exams either... the fight there will go on...
Update
The report from Elizabeth Rynne and the GA's Assessment and Examinations SIG has been published now. Thanks to Elizabeth and colleagues for her/their work on this.

The GA has produced a results analysis for examinations for some years now - will share the link when that appears on the website.‘Increasing A-level grades will mean a whole generation could end up promoted beyond their abilities’ says Minister for Irony. pic.twitter.com/vZioUl5V6t— Have I Got News For You (@haveigotnews) August 13, 2020
