You have until the 31st of August to submit a proposal for a session for the GA Conference in 2021.
This will (hopefully) take place at the University of Surrey in Guildford.
There is likely to be some sort of online element to the conference, with some sessions streamed live and/or recorded for later access.
As someone who has presented or been involved in some sort of session or event every year since 2005, this has always added an extra element to the conference for me.
Perhaps it was the nerves that kept me awake the night before, the additional conversations I had before and after the session, the experience of creating the session itself and the accompanying resources, or seeing your name in the programme and watching people come through the door and take a seat having come to listen to you talk, when faced with lots of other choices at the same time. I never take it for granted... and the little buzz when it's all over and some people give you some applause or thank you is habit forming. I've also presented sessions where there were more people presenting than people in the audience... that was a 9am slot on the day after a few social events the night before...
So head over to the GA website, download the forms for your proposed format of session, and get thinking about what you would like to share around the theme of Compassionate Geographies - something we all need more of at the moment. Harriet Brookes is waiting for your ideas. I look forward to seeing lots of first time presenters in next year's programme.
Alternatively, if you have a particularly brilliant idea you could save it for 2022 :)
