Xuelong II is a new icebreaker, built by China. It is particularly powerful.
Its name translates as 'Snow Dragon'. It was launched a couple of years ago.
It is building a great many as this will connect with the country's ambitions in the Arctic in particular, as well as Antarctica potentially. The Arctic is an area which I explore with Year 9 students as part of our Superpowers unit.
