These birds have started to arrive along the Norfolk coast - they are a clear sign that Autumn is here, and soon they will start feeding inland and spending the night out on the salt marshes and coastal sand bars to stay safe. When I lived on the coast for 12 years, a real highlight was evenings when skein after skein would come over the house, with their familiar calls. Very special.
