Lean Fall Stand

The opening section of this excllent book takes place in Antarctica, as an impromptu photography trip by a trio working in the field goes wrong when the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worse. It describes the landscape and the colours and the life of the research scientists.

There is a tremendous use of language to chart the decline and slow recovery of the key character, with many scenes told from the point of view of his wife as he returns to his home near Cambridge.

There is plenty on the impact of aphasia, and the power of language and stories. A really excellent book.
